Year 11 Success Stories from CCC

 

Emily Bryden aged 16 achieved grade 8s in English Language and Maths, grade 7s in English Literature, Business Studies, French and PE and a grade 9 and 8 in Combined Science.  “I am so overwhelmed, I was shaking when I opened my envelope and haven’t stopped crying since – even though I promised myself I wouldn’t no matter what I got!  I’m going to go for a meal, see my family, see my friends and try and calm down.  I think I’ve done well because I didn’t leave my revision until the last minute and I’m so pleased I didn’t, I’m going on to study Science and Maths at A Level and I can’t wait to get started.”

Jack Clifton aged 16 achieved a grade 9 in Maths and Computer Science, grade 6s in English Language, Geography and Combined Science, a grade 5 in English Literature and a grade 4 in Spanish.  “I think I have a good set of results which I’m really pleased with.  I’m going to study Maths, Computer Science and Music next and want to be a programmer in the future.”

Louise Jamieson aged 16 achieved grade 9s in Combined Science and English Language, grade 8s in English Literature, Maths, Geography and History and grade 7s in PE and Spanish. “The build up to coming in today has been a bit surreal and I’ve felt nervous.  The worst bit was waiting to come into school as I knew my results were only a few steps away. When I opened the envelope I looked for my Science grades first; I was both shocked and delighted – all my hard work had paid off which was an amazing feeling.  I’m so happy with my Maths and Spanish grades too as I’ve had to really concentrate and persevere in those subjects, I’m just pleased this is over now and I can start looking forward to my A Levels.  I’m hoping to study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and English Literature and eventually go to medical school. “ 

Louie Margison aged 16  achieved grade 7s in Maths, English Literature, Combined Science and Spanish, a grade 6 in English Language and a grade 9 in PE.   “I’m over the moon, I’ve tried really hard in the last few years to knuckle down and stay focused to get good grades and it’s paid off.  I’m planning on doing A Level PE, Psychology and Physics and want to be a Sports Physiotherapist in the future.” 

Lewis Ransome aged 16 achieved grade 9s in Geography and History, grade 8s in Combined Science, 7s in Maths and Spanish, grade 6s in English Language and Computer Science and a grade 5 in English Literature. “I started to feel the nerves building up last night; I did come in fairly confident that I’d pass everything and get some good grades but I’m absolutely over the moon with what I’ve got. Over the past year I revised every night and really worked hard in lessons as I knew that’s what was needed to be successful.  I’m staying at Churchill to study History, Applied Science and Maths at A Level and I want to join the RAF and become a pilot in the future.” 

Hermione Richardson aged 16 achieved grade 9s in Combined Science, History and English Language, grade 8s in Maths, English Literature and Art and a grade 7 in Spanish.  “I am over the moon with my results.  This morning was filled with a lot of anticipation and I honestly did not expect the results that were awarded to me today.  It was a brilliant surprise and I currently feel as though I am on cloud nine! I’m planning to stay on at Churchill for sixth form and study A Level Maths, Biology and Chemistry. My dream career is to become a genetic biochemist and I wish to eventually study Alzheimer’s disease, as well as other forms of dementia.”

Jack Scudder aged 16 achieved a grade 9 in Design Technology, grade 8s in Maths and Business Studies, grade 7s in Science and grade 5s for English Language, English Literature and Geography.  “I’m really pleased with my Design Technology result and of course the Business Studies and Maths grades too.  I’ve had to work hard for these grades and it wasn’t easy at times but I stuck with it and feel like it’s been worth it in the end.  I’m going to stay at Churchill to study A Levels.”

Ellie Thompson  aged 16 achieved a grade 9 in PE, grade 8s in Combined Science and Maths, a grade 7 in Art, grade 6s in English Language and English Literature and grade 5s in History and Spanish.  “I was feeling nervous about coming in today as I didn’t get to show what I could do in my exams, I knew I’d worked hard over the last few years but still, it was nerve wracking.  When I opened the envelope I was so happy, I saw the 8s in Maths and Science and then the 9 in PE.  I’m going to stay at Churchill and study Biology, Maths and Sport and want to be a sports physiotherapist in the future.”  

Jack Watson aged 16 achieved grade 9s in Combined Science and Maths, grade 8s in French, Geography and PE, a grade 7 in English Literature and a grade 6 in English Language.  “I’m really pleased and surprised, in fact lost for words.  I tried to put myself in the best position by staying back at school to revise every night but it’s still a shock.  I’m planning on celebrating with family and friends today then I start my academy programme in September at South Shields FC and Sunderland College.”
