15 December 2020
Dear Parents/Carers Before the festive break, I wanted to write to you to thank you for everything you have done to support your children and young people during this COVID-19 pandemic. The past few months have been very difficult times for us all. We have all been put in unfamiliar circumstances and at times, it hasn’t been easy. Since March we have all had to adjust to cope with COVID-19.
I have been incredibly proud of the way our community has responded and I have been exceptionally grateful for the work carried out across the public service, our community organisations and individuals who have made a huge difference.
As we all know one of our biggest challenges has been to keep our children safe at a difficult and confusing time and I wanted to acknowledge the huge challenges that you as parents and carers have had to face.
You have had to become teachers and adapted your lives to help the fight against the pandemic. You have supported our schools, headteachers, teachers and support staff to be able to care for and teach your children.
I know that all, of our schools have worked tirelessly to ensure that your children are kept safe, and my thanks have also been offered to them at this time.
I am sure that you are all looking forward to the festive break, but it is important that we continue to do all we can to protect ourselves and others from the virus.
Again, a huge thank you to you all and my very best wishes for the festive season and for a better 2021.
