General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
As you may already be aware, 25th May 2018, marks the enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). The GDPR will replace the Data Protection Act 1998 and is designed to strengthen the safety and security of all data held within an organisation, and make sure processing and storage procedures are consistent.
We would like to inform you of the work that Churchill Community College is conducting to ensure that we meet this new regulation.
In order to carry out its ordinary duties to students and parents/carers, we need to process a wide range of personal data about individuals as part of our daily operations. Some of this activity is in order to fulfil our legal rights, duties or obligation. Other uses of personal data will be made in accordance with the school’s legitimate interests, or the legitimate interests of another, provided that these are not outweighed by the impact on individuals, and provided it does not involve special or sensitive types of data.
As part of the requirements of GDPR, we have to produce a Privacy Notice that details how we hold and process your and your children’s data and our obligations. It also details your rights relating to your data.
