Learning Exchange Awards 2009 "WINNER" |
Wallsend Extended Services ‘Sub21’ project
The Learning Exchange Award are awarded for recognising the fantastic work carried out by Extended School Projects within the locoal community, and the effect the work has on local people and their community.
The Learning Exchange said "We received extremely strong entries to the 2009 Learning Exchange Awards and the task of choosing winners was almost overwhelming because of the range and strength of the bids. However, we only have five prizes - one of £1,000 for the strongest case study and four prizes of £500."
£500 Winner:
- Churchill Community College in Wallsend, North Tyneside which, through a partnership with the National Centre for Social Marketing and the local Primary Care Trust, has implemented a programme aimed at changing lifestyles and reducing alcohol-related incidents. Since the programme was put in place, there has been a 49 per cent reduction in alcohol-related incidents in the area.
Each year the Awards will have a different theme. The 2009 theme is: ‘We know our extended service has made a difference…’. We would encourage applicants in schools, local authorities or other organisations to use the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) Impact evaluation model to help in the process of showing how an extended service has made that difference.
