EASTER CONCERT A MAJOR WOW FOR PARENTS
![]() |
A major breakthrough occurred at Churchill on Wednesday 31st March.
Mr A Swan, Head of Music produced the first ever Musical Extravaganza to an audience of about 160 parents and friends. A chance for the students who have instrument lessons to showcase their talents and the emerging singing group to perform to an audience ended in a great nights entertainment.
It was also fantastic to see the guitar and choir from Holy Cross Primary, the choir from Battle Hill Primary and the Brass players from Hadrian Park Primary.
The music covered the whole spectrum from Deep Purple to Dvorak, and Journey to Vivaldi. Every student taking part had a fabulous time and the smiles and the comments from the parents leaving the college at the end of the evening was very positive and 'Let's do it again....' was the remark of the evening
Staff and students made cakes and coffees, and sold them as refreshments with waitress service.
Mr Swan is instrumental in changing the face of performance at Churchill, along with the music, singing and our newly assembled Glee Club, more and more students are getting involved with performance at Churchill.
"When you think that 18 months ago we had nothing in the way of performance to where we are tonight, it is a massive step," said Mr Swan, "It was great to mix with our Primary Schools and give them a platform to show off their talents."
Following on from the Christmas Concert, Churchill's Got Talent, then the Young Americans visit, this Easter Concert was another step in the right direction for the College to enable any child a chance to share their talents with a wider audience.
Mr Swan said, "Hopefully this is not a one-off event and we can make this concert into a yearly tradition, and Easter seems like the ideal timing."
Judging by the smiles on the faces of the performers and the sore hands of the audience members - roll on the next one.
