The parent’s forum was created by Churchill Community College as a means of ensuring engagement with parents in aspects of school life and their child’s learning and development.

The group meets evening each half term, with meetings schedule during the daytime and evenings.   Meetings are very informal and cover a range of topics of interest to parents.  This has included consultation on lunchtimes, uniform, homework and various school policies to name but a few.  At the moment, we are particularly interested in exploring ways parents, carers and even grandparents can become more involved in supporting young people’s learning.

The group sometimes invites a member of school staff to come and talk to them about a particular topic. For example, the Additional Educational Needs Co-ordinator has attended to talk about this specialist area.   The Parents Forum have also organised very successful social events and held fund-raising activities (but this is not the main focus).

We know that all parents / carers and grandparents are very busy people, and we are not looking for any major commitment from you. You don’t have to attend every meeting, and you can just keep in touch via email if you prefer. Not all parents are available to visit school due to working commitments but we do offer them the option of receiving all parent forum information by email, this allows them to keep in touch.
