If you are ever having a tidy up and clear out at home; can I put in a plea for the library before you get rid of any books?
You may be aware we use the Accelerated Reading scheme in the Reading lessons with Years 7 & 8. As these pupils will have had limited access to books (and probably, little desire to read) during lockdown and over the summer holidays, we are expecting that a number of them will be reading at the lower end of the scheme on their return.
As such, if you have any books that your little ones no longer read, could you possibly consider donating them to the library?
The type of books that we are after, are the short easy to read ones that your own children would have first had as independent readers. Please don’t consider that any book is too young / babyish. The lower end of the scheme includes the likes of the Julia Donaldson titles, Horrid Henry, Big Nate as well as short chapter books and flat picture books.
Any children’s fiction donations will be happily accepted.
I am writing to inform you about the electrification of Howdon Satellite Depot and tracks.
Nexus, which owns and operates Metro, are embarking on a key phase in the £20million project to design and build a satellite depot in Howdon.
We would like to inform you of the installation of 1500 volt DC cables, and subsequent
energisation due to take place from 17 July 2020.
Live overhead lines/cables on railways are highly dangerous, and have the potential to kill or
cause serious injuries. Anyone entering on to the Depot site, without prior consent, are liable to these dangers and to prosecution.
We enclose a copy of the notices to be placed on site warning any unauthorised personnel of the dangers of electrified railways.
We would appreciate your acknowledgement of receipt of this letter and documentation.
If you require further information about the Depot then please do not hesitate to contact us
further. If you have any questions or concerns then please contact Rebecca Ditchburn, Nexus Community Relations Officer on 0191 20 20 747 or via email email@example.com

If you see something that a parent or carer has shared, or something that has happened in school, please nominate through our website. We have had nearly 300 nominations so far and it would be great to have at least one from each school this year.
