Belarus 2010
Help us to raise the money we need!
On Monday 12th April 2010, 12 sixth form students will be travelling to Belarus to run an Easter camp for 25 underprivileged children. They will organise and deliver English lessons, sports and crafts activities and evening entertainment. Many of the Belarusian children suffer from a range of illnesses including acute asthma and will be receiving treatment at the camp. This experience is part of the Enterprise challenges Churchill students complete whilst in sixth form. It allows them to develop their teamwork, leadership, risk taking, problem solving and creativity skills.
The sixth form students are currently fundraising £7000 to cover the costs of equipment, resources, accommodation and travel for the Belarusian children.
Student’s have been extremely enterprising and creative with their fundraising ideas so far by;
* Designing T shirts
* Completing bag packs at local supermarkets
* Applying for community funds
* Organising a Belarus day at college
* Creating Buy a book cards
* Holding a Christmas raffle
* Completing the Boxing Day swim at Whitley Bay
* Charity fundraising dinner and auction at Jesmond Dene House
The sixth form students are working hard to raise the funds required to make this a once in a life time experience for the Belarusian children and would appreciate any support or contributions to help them achieve their target of £7000.
