As you will probably have seen on the news, the government has announced the
move to a new phase (delay) in the response to COVID-19 (coronavirus). The school
continues to follow the national advice designed to delay the COVID-19 spread and
has sought clarification to ensure we are following the best scientific advice currently
The guidance now advises that people who have travelled and returned to the UK do not need to stay at home and self isolate, regardless of their travel history, assuming they are symptom free.
If they do have the symptoms of coronavirus; either a high temperature or a new continuous cough then they should self isolate at home for 7 days. In addition, if they develop the symptoms over the weekend they should self isolate at home for 7 days.
With this guidance and following advice from both Public Health England and Wendy
Burke, North Tyneside Council’s Director of Public Health, this means that the
students and staff who have returned from the trip to Barcelona on Saturday do not
need to self-isolate and can return to school on Monday if they are symptom free.
All students and staff should follow the new advice if they believe they have
symptoms of possible coronavirus which can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public
I look forward to welcoming pupils and staff back to school on Monday.
