Regional Finalist in the National Governors Association Award for Outstanding Clerks

Tracy Young, Co-ordinator of Governor Services and clerk to six governing bodies of schools in North Tyneside, was selected as Regional Finalist and represented the North East at the National Awards Ceremony in Birmingham on Saturday 21st March.

Tracy was nominated by Churchill Community College, who were impressed with the support she provided to the governing body and senior management team in relation to school governance. Apart from all of the legal and procedural advice Tracy gives to the governing body, an exceptional part of Tracy's role involves her working with the young people, taken from the student body of the college, who are Associate Members on the governing body. Tracy is instrumental in providing them with induction training to help them to understand their role.

Tracy attended the Award Ceremony at Birmingham Council Offices on Saturday, together with Jacki Kelly, Governor Services Manager.
At the ceremony, Tracy and Jacki enjoyed a welcome reception, followed by lunch, where they shared a table with Baroness Howe of Idlicate and Lord Geoffrey Howe of Aberavon.

After lunch, the nine regional finalists were given their awards by the Baroness and the national winner announced. As well as a cash prize, Tracy received gifts and gifts and a certificate to celebrate her success. Tracy was chosen from nominees from all over the North East as the Regional Finalist. Despite not winning the national award, this was a very impressive personal achievement.

Well Done, Tracy.
